Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for Employers
What is EFT?
EFT is a method of sending in payments electronically. The data transmitted in this method includes a detailed record containing identifying information so that the payment gets properly credited to the correct account. Child support payments can be made electronically by using EFT for a quicker and easier way to send in payments.
What are the benefits of sending in payments through EFT?
There are many benefits offered by using EFT. EFT eliminates the cost of paper checks and postage. EFT is a faster method for processing payments with fewer errors and faster child support payments to the custodial parents.
How do I begin sending in EFT payments?
There are two options available for employers to begin EFT.
Option 1: If you are an employer who has the capabilities to send in EFT payments for child support, there are two file layout formats that are accepted.
What are the file formats that are used?
The standard formats for EFT are both CCD+ and CTX820. The following web site: www.nacha.org. Outlines the file layout format for both CCD+ and CTX820. Find out from your bank or payroll company if you are able to transfer in one of these formats.
If you use one of these standard formats, then we can begin by doing a case reconciliation file to be sure all information is correct. We can process a pre-note (zero dollar) transaction to make sure the information is properly formatted. To complete the process, an exchange of banking information is the required.
Option 2 : If you are a small business and your payroll system does not have the capabilities to send in EFT payments for child support, you can use the dial up method available.
How do I enroll?
To enroll, you can contact an enrollment representative at 1-888-543-4080 and request an enrollment packet. Once you complete and return the packet, allow ten days for your EFT agreement to be processed. A confirmation letter and EFT access instructions will be sent to you. This EFT method is easy to use and can be accessed from anywhere by telephone available 24 hours a day. An operator will assist you through
